Weird

Ok a friend sent me an email today and if it's a joke I usually don't read it. No offense to anyone who sends them but I'd rather spend whatever free time I've got to play with my blog. I just thought this one was a little strange and it qualifies as "blog worthy" (a term I freely throw around lately!).

Here's the email:

HOW SMART IS YOUR RIGHT FOOT?

You have to try this please, it takes 2 seconds. I could not believe this!!!
It is from an orthopedic surgeon............

This will boggle your mind and you will keep you trying over and over
again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't.

It's pre-programmed in your brain!

1. Without anyone watching you (they will think you are GOOFY......)
and while sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right
foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your
right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I
both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try
it again, if you've not already done so.

I've got a friend that is a ortho surgeon...I'll have to ask him why in the world this happens??

3rd Annual Women's Art Show

Well I made it through my first ever art show. It was a lot of fun and I'm actually looking forward to the next one! Seeing so many beautiful pieces of artwork has inspired me to create more. It was also fun to see people actually admiring my work. I felt like such a non-artist. Like I told people...I didn't go near my painting much but I enjoyed answering questions about my photographs.

Beginning of the night, next to my photographs.
My painting
My friend, Theresa's daughter, Hannah. She was so cute and loved it when people admired her work.
Chris and I in front of the sunset.
I had to put this pic in. Ryland sat up for the first time all by himself today. He stopped playing for a pose.
Note: More pictures in the web album.

We are experiencing technical difficulties...

With the blog that is. I'm sick, frustrated, tired and can't get what I want on my blog. Just being whiney right now, so you'll have to excuse me. I'm bored with the blog the way it is so I decided to change it...and boy did I ever. Now I have to re-install every little fun thing that I put on here and I just don't have the energy to do so. Please be patient with me and you'll have some cool things to play with when I finish. Ciao for now....

Nickleback - Savin Me

First off, thank you to Rebecca for putting this on her blog so I can take it!
Chris is a big fan of this band so I'm familiar with them but I've never seen this video until now. It has made quite the impact on me. Life is so short and for those people walking around aimlessly without a relationship with our Lord and Savior it could end in a matter of minutes and send them to place that a lot of people don't like to talk about. Do I know where I'm going when I die? Absolutely. If you don't, read the bible and you'll find out that the only way to ensure your salvation is to accept Jesus as your savior.

John 14:6- "Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Matthew 7:13-14-"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

Dancing

The boys bust a move but like all good dances it ends in a fight. At least neither of them got hurt!

Saturday Feb 23rd

We went to Hotel Nikko for a fun day in the sun with some friends of ours. We all had a blast. Here is several photos from our day...

Ryland watching everyone pass by.
Tyler posing with his "costume" on. It's a life vest/suit thingamajig but it has Power Rangers on it so that's why he's wearing it. He normally fights me when I put a life vest on him. Whatever works!
Me and the girls, Jen and Kris, lounging by the pool. After a day at the pool Logan had to do swim lessons. Here he is with Coach Mel. After a few minutes of being in the pool everyone had to get out because someone did something in the pool that they shouldn't have!Logan reading to his Ty.
Codie decided to come and get the frisbee from Ryland.
Tug of War!
Playtime w/ bub.
Posing for the camera.

Chapel Friday

I brought Logan to school today and got the pleasure of seeing part of their Chapel Fridays. It was a lot of fun listening to their worship music. Tyler had a blast dancing with the preschoolers. Makes me wonder if putting him in preschool now would be a good idea or if I should just wait until next school year. I have more videos but they are too big to upload. The one in the web album is of Tyler dancing with one of the students, Jordan. The little boy towards the end is the son of a woman Chris works with. He is so funny. He wanted me to take a picture of his Crocs and then told his crocs to Say Cheese!

On Thursday I entered my lighthouse painting into a art exhibit for women of the island. A lady that I go to church with asked me to put it in so they could have a representative from the military. I hemmed and hawed over a week and finally decided to do it. As people say, you are your worst critic and I am not happy with it but I'm entering it anyways. I've also got some photographs that I'm entering as well. The opening ceremony is next friday night. It's a cocktail party....can't remember the last time I've been to one of those! That means that I can get a little dressed up! It's going to be at the Infiniti Art Gallery.....aka the Nissan dealership!! HAHA! Only on Guam!

Tyler and Haven

Doesn't his feet look huge?! It's just the way I took the picture.

The Great Duck Race and Cardboard Boat Regatta

Today was a fun day for the boys. We walked down to the marina where there was a duck and cardboard boat race. For the duck race, the kids had to register for a duck and each got a necklace with a mini duck sporting their number. I think that the kids liked the necklace more than the idea of the race. Logan was worried that he was going to have to do something like throw the duck the furthest and Tyler just wanted his duck that was going to be in the race. It took a bit of coaxing to get them to participate but they eventually did and enjoyed it.

Shortly after that there was the cardboard boat regatta. It was pretty funny seeing grown men rowing a cardboard box all taped up with duct tape. The rowed as fast as they could to the buoy and back with hopes that the boats wouldn't sink. I think the first one went down in a flash. There was one made by a dad and his kids were the rowers. They did great and since they were so light, their boat never sunk. Jen and I are talking about doing it next year for the kids and having Chris be the adult to accompany them....Chris isn't too happy about that.

All in all we had a great time hanging out with friends, getting faces painted, enjoying ice cream shakes and big blowup jumpies. Below are some pictures from today and more are in the web album.

Logan and Emma playing by the water. It's such a beautiful blue.
Tyler, Jack and Haven enjoying a snack....when there's food around you'll usually find Tyler begging for some!
Emma and Kate playing in a box with Jack and Logan looking on. It's funny what kids decide to entertain themselves with even amongst all this action!
Adam, Logan and Tyler after getting faces painted and balloon art. Tyler's sword was popped right before this pic was taken...oops! My fault!
This is probably the only picture that was taken of the baby since he was asleep for most of the event. I know Theresa is probably going to kill me for putting this on here but HAPPY BIRTHDAY THERESA! Today was her birthday. :-)

Fun day at Tarza Waterpark

This is Logan's classmate, Olivia (also our neighbor), she invited us to Tarza to celebrate her 6th birthday with her. We had a great time playing on the water slides and the lazy river. Logan and Tyler could not get enough of the slides. Tyler was particularly fond of the fast one...little daredevil!

Happy Birthday Olivia!
Ryland was able to get in on the action today. He enjoyed floating around the lazy river with mommy in his baby float.
Here's my two little fishies. Logan has become accustomed to the pose that Japanese do when taking pictures.
Here's Logan and Dad on his first time down the fast slide. You can see a bit of the terror on his face if you look closely! This is the slide that Tyler wanted to go on again and again. I took him and of course we completely flipped off the tube. He still wanted to go on it again...even after he floated away when he was with me!
He liked this slide but it wasn't fast enough for him. He kept saying...I want the big one!!

Smell of Guam

I went to get the mail this afternoon and every time I go, I get an overwhelming smell of plumeria. There is a plumeria tree right behind the mailbox and I could spend forever sitting under that tree smelling those flowers. I've discovered that this is my favorite smell of Guam. I think it's probably one of my favorite smells ever. I decided to take a clipping from the tree to enjoy the smell for a little while longer and of course all kinds of creepy crawlies decided to come say hello while I was doing it. I hate spiders!

Happy Valentine's Day!

My friend, Lauren and I started a mom's group several weeks ago that has grown and grown. We've actually had to move from having it at alternating houses to having it at the chapel on the hospital complex. This is more of Lauren's baby than mine but I think I'll be taking the reins (along with Jen) once she leaves this coming spring/summer :-( The kids (and moms) really seem to enjoy themselves. We had an activity for the kids, making hearts out of handprints and one of the moms, Jeni gave a bit of a sign language class for us. Our goal is to get childcare and do alternating mom time/mom with child time. The days when we have mom time will be spent learning a new craft such as quilting, knitting, scrapbooking, etc. My contribution will be to learn how to blog for those that don't know how to. I'm self taught and it took me a while to get where I'm at so I'd love to help others do it. It's a great way to keep in touch with family/friends back home.

Tyler enjoying a cupcake while Ian looks on. Ian is almost one and is a cute lil thing. He actually did manage to get a quick finger into the cupcake. Tyler barely noticed!
Mom's and kids doing a little dance while learning how to do basic baby sign language.
Jeni demonstrating the sign for milk. Actually looks like you're squeezing an udder!
My surrogate daughter Kate posing for a picture. Look at her lil cheese grin!
Moms enjoying time with other moms.

Chinese New Year

We had lunch at Tony Roma's after church today and were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the dragon dance celebrating the Chinese New Year. They had very big and very loud drums...the baby was freaked out at first then calmed down. That's when Logan got upset. I have no idea why...a big scary looking dragon jumping around?? Who wouldn't be scared! That thing freaked me out a little! I can't wait to go to China and see the real thing at the Imperial Palace.

After the excitement.
He ate a whole jar of carrots tonight! Then I nursed him. What a little piglet! He couldn't get enough of the carrots.

Not much to say

I'm racking my brain for something interesting to post but I can't come up with much. I went to a craft fair today, got tires put on my car, went to the brand new Home Depot (first ever on island!) and took Logan to swim lessons. Here's some photos from today and yesterday...

Teaching Logan how to ride a bike yesterday.
Ryland chillin in the jogging stroller.
This sign was above a trash can at a little diner we stopped at. Ewwww!
I took this picture with this saying in mind:

Reach for the SON, in anyway you can.
This little spot was set up in a commercial area right next to a storage trailer. Just thought it was funny with chickens walking around it.

Hamamoto Tropical Fruit World

We had a great time on our trip to the fruit world. We got to ride a tractor tram thing all around the jungle. There was various fruit plants from all over the Pacific region such as Guava, Mango, Star Fruit, Egg Fruit, etc. It was very interesting. Tyler had a good time at first but then it took a bit of coaxing to get him to stay on the thing. Guess learning about plants isn't his thing! (yet!) Here are some of the pictures from our trip and more can be found in our web album.

The inseparables
Peanut Butter Fruit Tree! It actually tastes like the real thing and has the same consistency only it's a little bit sweeter.
Here's some coconut trees that were cut down and looks like they are being replaced with new ones!
